Dining with friends at The Old Rectory Bed and Breakfast, Cradley, Malvern

Food and wine play a major part in life at The Old Rectory, we relish sharing our joy of great food, drink and entertainment with others.

The starting point is a great love of food and the desire to provide the very best that the local community and the wider county can offer. We have spent time researching and sourcing the finest produce from our free Range Eggs delivered on the day of laying, to our local free range bacon.

The Old Rectory ethos is a total commitment to forge good trading relationships with local farmers, producers and suppliers. To strive to reduce the food miles of everything we serve to our guests to reduce food waste by buying better quality food that is bought and cooked freshly. It is our belief that it is every individual’s responsibility to look for ways to reduce the distance, cost and environmental impact of bringing produce to the table.

Breakfast is a special treat at The Old Rectory. Our Menu offers some of the very best that Herefordshire can offer. We strive to maintain organic selection and seasonality where possible. We have award winning sausages, home cured and home smoked bacon from Wallers of Ledbury. Mirrorbrook Small Holding provides the most excellent same day eggs, some are even triple yolks! The finest Scottish Smoked Salmon, Manx Kippers and Unsmoked Haddock. To compliment this we have our breakfast vegetables from Box Fresh Organics, Apple juice from Jus, Blackcurrant Cordials from Pixley Berries and cheeses from Mousetrap. After which our guests can enjoy a lovely selection of homemade jams and marmalades and scrumptious locally baked bread to complete the feast.

We also have a vegetable garden from which guest enjoy the very best of our homegrown crop. From this we also produce pickles, preserves etc and in the Winter months a warming shot of our own Sloe Gin or Damson Vodka ( Chase of course and locally sourced fruit) go down a treat in front of the fire.

Our belief is that embracing local trading takes us back an era or so to the days when local trading benefited everyone and served to keep the rural economy thriving. There are many farmers and producers that are totally at the mercy of large conglomerates. In our small way we hope that our enthusiasm for embracing local produce is passed on, not only to our customers but also to other local businesses through shared information about where to source and buy excellent fresh produce directly. This in time would go some to way remedy over use of mass transportation of foods, a reduction in food miles, give the people at the core of the production better financial gain and would see a reduction in the environmental impact of such trading.

We are happy to accommodate all special dietary requirements and always stock Gluten free products including sausages, breads and breakfast sauces.

We also offer pack lunches for walkers and lifts to and from the Malvern Hills. Find out more about what to do close to our bed and breakfast and in the surrounding Malvern area.
